Stelvio Packing List

The weather in the mountains can be unpredictable throughout the year so bring layers to cope with all situations. There are good bike shops in Bormio but make sure your bike is serviced and ready before you leave.

Cycling gear

  • Jersey & shorts (laundry facilities available at the hotel)
  • Cycling sunglasses
  • Overshoes
  • Arm warmers
  • Leg warmers (useful for final descent of the Stelvio)
  • Rain jacket (to fit in jersey pocket)
  • Additional layer for chilly descents
  • Long fingered gloves (useful for descent of the Stelvio)
  • Suncream

 Bike equipment

  • Garmin / Wahoo with turn by turn navigation
  • Front & Back Lights
  • Standard puncture repair kit to be carried on bike at all times
  • Multi tool
  • Spare inner tubes
  • Bike specific tools (if your bike requires any special tools)
  • 2 X bottles
  • Rear Mech hanger (these are bike specific and not always easy to source locally)
  • Di2 charging cables (if applicable)
  • Ride nutrition – (we supply OTE products but always good to bring your own if you have a different brand that works for you)
  • Waterproof phone / essentials holder (plastic pouch will suffice)

Off the bike

  • Casual clothes – including warm layer for evening drinks on the terrace!
  • Personal medication & toiletries
  • Swimming gear
  • Phone & charger
  • Italian Plug adaptor (double adaptor OR double USB are good)
  • Hand sanitiser (ESSENTIAL – For hand luggage and jersey pocket)
  • Supply of masks (ESSENTIAL – compulsory to wear masks in public in Italy)

Documents

  • Valid passport
  • EHIC Card – Valid for all EU (and UK) citizens. UK Citizens can apply for a new EHIC for free HERE
  • Insurance – Comprehensive insurance is compulsory. Make sure you policy covers you for Road cycling up to 2000m

Mobile phone software

  • Whatsapp – Used for group communication & to pinpoint location
  • GPX app (e.g. Strava  – additional help with navigation)

Sportive Breaks Hire bike

  • If you are hiring one of our bikes please remember to pack you pedals, garmin mount and helmet / shoes.
  • All sizes have 172.5mm cranks if you are thinking of bringing a Stages power meter
