Tour of Cambridgeshire with Sportive Breaks

The 2023 Tour of Cambridgeshire takes place alongside a weekend festival of cycling. It is one of two UK qualifier events for the 2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships that take place in Scotland in August 2023. For those looking to qualify for the 2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships, the ITT takes place on the Saturday and the 100 mile Gran Fondo on the Sunday. There are three Sportive distances (100, 70 and 50 miles) to choose from. All distances take riders through the beautiful Cambridgeshire countryside. Riders are guaranteed an electric event day atmosphere on completely traffic-free closed roads! The three routes cater to riders of all ages and abilities. Choose your challenge and step up to the starting line to support the fight against children’s cancer.

ITT Saturday 3 June 2023

Feel like a pro at the Time Trial (TT), with a full produced start area including a start ramp, professional commentary and 16.4 miles of racing on closed roads. The TT is the UK’s biggest time trial. The fully produced TT start area includes a ramp, sound and lighting, professional commentary and a countdown clock. Riders are set off individually at 20-second intervals.

The TT caters for any rider who is at least 19yrs* of age on 31st December in the year of the event. The start sheet is set out according to UCI Masters Age / Gender Classification, with no seeding. Each Masters Age group will have a podium ceremony, where the fastest rider will be awarded with a UCI jersey. It’s a sell-out event, so enter today to guarantee your place on the start ramp.

*Please note – Minimum age to qualify for the UCI GF World Championships is 19yrs.

Gran Fondo Sunday 4 June 2023

The Gran Fondo is held on fully closed roads and is a mass participation event with a mass start (no separate age group start waves). All results from the Gran Fondo are determined by chip time. A race license is not required to take part in the Gran Fondo, however there is a minimum age of 19yrs (on 31st December in the year of the event).

Road Race Sunday 4 June 2023

The Tour of Cambridgeshire Road Race is like no other in the UK, with fully closed roads, podium places up for grabs and UCI Gran Fondo World Championships invitations to compete for. This is could be your first-step towards the UCI rainbow jersey. Podium places will be awarded to the first three riders over the finish line in each age category. The fastest rider in each age category will also be awarded a UCI jersey. The fastest 20% of riders in each Masters age group will be invited to ride for their nation at the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.

You must hold a full race license at the time of the event but don’t worry if you don’t, you can still take part in the Tour of Cambridgeshire and compete for a UCI Gran Fondo World Championships qualification in the Gran Fondo.

UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Scotland

The Tour of Cambridgeshire Gran Fondo and the ITT are part of the UCI Granfondo World Series which is a series of UCI-sanctioned races held all over the world. Riders who finish in the 20% of their age group will qualify and are given the opportunity to represent Great Britain (or other country depending on their nationality). Sportive Breaks will be present throughout the 2023 Tour of Cambridgeshire weekend. Sportive Breaks are the official fan and amateur participant travel and experiences provider of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow and Scotland. The 11-day inaugural event will create cycling history by combining 13 existing UCI World Championships into one mega-event for the first time, creating one of the world’s top 10 sporting events.
