Giro d'Italia Ride Like A Pro Tenerife with Sportive Breaks
The Giro d’Italia is following the very successful L’Etape by Tour de France amateur event series by organising a Giro d’Italia Ride Like A Pro race. Taking place on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th November 2022, the first edition of Gran Fondo Tenerife will take place this year.
This will be a special edition, full of surprises to celebrate the first edition of this Gran Fondo. This is your opportunity to climb the famous Mount Teide and take part in two epic rides.
The race is reserved for amateur cyclists (no racing license needed) but will be organised just like a pro stage of the Giro d’Italia, complete with closed roads, festive start/finish expo and Maglia Rosa jerseys for the fastest male and female finishers.
• Day 1 on Saturday 19th November – Arona to Arona – 90km
• Day 2 on Sunday 20th November – Adeje to Adeje – 107km
About Tenerife
Many professional cycling teams have done their preparation in Tenerife. Famously it was on Tenerife’s good quality roads that Team Sky prepared their Tour de France successes. Tenerife is well-known for its “eternal spring”. The average temperature ranges between 15ºC minimum and 30ºC maximum throughout the year. The opportunity of cycling at 2,330 metres above sea level is something you will find in very few places in the world. Especially in the European winter when everyone is skiing. Climbing from sea level up to 2,330 metres in just a few hours make Tenerife different and unique in the world as a cycling destination. There are over 20 distinct routes with climbs that rival the toughest of the Alps. There is low to almost non-existent traffic on endless, smooth mountain roads. The island has embraced its’ growing two-wheeled culture, offering ample bike resources and a positive attitude towards cyclists.

By including those who ride out of mere passion and those who experience cycling more competitively, the Giro d’Italia Ride Like a Pro races have been conceived to convey the emotions of living one day as a real champion. Competitive spirit, fun, passion, Italian atmosphere: these are the elements that every rider will “bring back home” after participating in a Giro d’Italia Ride Like a Pro event. The Giro d’Italia Ride Like a Pro Tenerife will be part of an exclusive international circuit.

17th November, 2022 : Arrival day
Please make your own arrangements to arrive at our hotel or meet us at Tenerife South Airport. We will run several airport transfers throughout the day. Please allow an hour from your flight landing time to your transfer time, to allow you to get through passport control and collect your luggage. The transfer takes approximately 15 – 30 minutes depending on traffic.
You can bring your own bike as we have planned to transport bike boxes on our airport transfers. Alternatively, you can rent a bike with us for the weekend. Our mechanic will be available this afternoon at the hotel to assist you with fitting your rental bike or building your own bike after travel. Bikes can be safely stored at the hotel.
Late afternoon and early evening, our tour leaders and bike mechanics are available for you. We will have an evening meal together at the hotel.
18th November 2022 : Guided warm up ride and event registration
Breakfast followed by a warm-up ride. We offer a guided, supported ride this morning.
On return to the hotel, there is time to visit the event expo which will be buzzing with Giro d’Italia activities plus you will be able to meet some former pro riders.
This afternoon you are free to enjoy the hotel’s facilities and we will have the evening meal together at the hotel.
19th November 2022 : Gran Fondo Tenerife Stage 1
Today is the day! We have an early start this morning. Early breakfasts are arranged in the hotel restaurant.
It’s just a short roll out from each of our hotels to the start line. Please make your own way to the start this morning, based on your own start time. Our staff will be on hand this morning if you have any last-minute mechanical issues, or if you need directions to the start line.
We will have an evening meal together at the hotel this evening, where you can share tales of your exploits.
20th November 2022 : Gran Fondo Tenerife Stage 1
Today is the day! We have an early start this morning. Early breakfasts are arranged in the hotel restaurant.
It’s just a short roll out from each of our hotels to the start line. Please make your own way to the start this morning, based on your own start time. Our staff will be on hand this morning if you have any last-minute mechanical issues, or if you need directions to the start line.
We will have an evening meal together at the hotel this evening, where you can share tales of your exploits.
21st November 2022 : Departure day
Please make your own arrangements to depart the hotel or make use of our airport transfers to Tenerife South Airport. We will run several airport transfers throughout the day. Please allow an 2.5 hours from your flight departure time to your transfer time, to allow 2 hours for check-in. The transfer takes approximately 15 – 30 minutes depending on traffic.
Sportive Options
We offer two demanding stages for cycling lovers. The first stage will have 94km and 1,982M D+ and a second stage with 107km and 2,785M D+. Both stages stand out for visiting the best locations on the island. There is a good mix of climbing as well as plenty of flat and rolling sections on the routes.
Airport Transfers
We will run transfers from Tenerife South Airport for you with luggage and a bike box on arrival on Thursday and on departure on Monday throughout the day.
