Bradley Wiggins won the 2012 Tour de France but Chris Froome was awarded the 2011 Vuelta in July 2019 after the original winner was disqualified. As this is question one we have awarded points for either answer.

2. Vittoria Bussi set the women’s hour record in 2018. What was her winning distance in Kilometres?

She clocked 48.007km. The mens record is 55km set by Victor Campenaerts with the “Absolute” record still held by Chris Boardman. 56.375 set back in 1996 on a non-standard bike.

Alpe d’Huez. Pantani set the record of 37.35 in 1997. It’s not the prettiest climb but deserves its place on the Bucket list and is an amazing place to watch the Tour come past. Mont Ventoux. Early morning on Mont Ventoux is a truly special place – as long as the wind is not blowing at 200kmh! Whether you climb one side, two or all three in a day this is a day you won’t forget.

The Koppenberg in Flanders. One of a number of short but punishing climbs that makes the Tour of Flanders such a great Sportive to ride. We ride this the day before the race also as race day can be so busy you will almost certainly end up walking. Eddy Mercx had to walk up here so you are in good company.

Passo Stelvio. Possibly the most iconic image in cycling is the view back down the 48 hairpins on the Northern side. Ride both sides on our Stelvio Weekender
