Is This Trip For Me?

One of the top bucket list rides in the UK, the classic Coast to Coast route goes from Whitehaven to Tynemouth through the Lake District & beautiful North Pennines. We then head back across the Hadrians Cycleway before returning to Whitehaven. Three epic days of riding in some of the most stunning parts of the country.

Tour Highlights

Tour Highlights

  • Ride the Coast to Coast: One of the great routes in the UK. Taking in the Lake District, Castlerigg Stone Circle & the Pennines, this is a must ride for all cyclists.

  • Empty roads on the Hadrians Cycleway: Escape the crowds as we head back to the Irish Sea along the less ridden Hadrian's Cycleway following the wall.

  • Small, social groups: Our max group size is 14 and we will split into two groups on the road. You are welcome to ride off the front or back of the groups or make some friends and chat all the way to the coast!

England: Coast to Coast to Coast Cycling Holiday

Join us in September for a four night trip with three epic rides across the beautiful north of England and back. We start in St Bees just outside Whitehaven and ride 145km per day over the classic coast to coast to Tynemouth and then back mostly following the Hadrian’s Cycleway. The route goes through the Lake District, North Pennines & follows Hadrian’s Wall. We start by dipping our back wheels in the Irish Sea and at our mid point on ride two, dip our front wheel in the North Sea before finishing back on the beach in St Bees.

Friday : St Bees to Stanhope

After an early breakfast, we roll out of St Bees and pick up the C2C route in Whitehaven. After dipping our back wheels in the Irish Sea we ride into the Lake District over Whinlatter Pass and passed the Castlerigg Stone Circle. After lunch at around the 100km mark, the majority of the climbing comes in the last 50km including Hartside. We stay for the night in Stanhope in the middle of the Pennines.

Saturday : Stanhope to Gilsland

Distance Elevation Difficulty
Main Bunch 155km 1650m 3/5

Starting in Stanhope, we kick off the ride with a 3.5km climb before a long 35km descend taking us from the empty lanes of the Pennines to the cycle paths on the Tyne in Newcastle. After 64km we finally reach the Atlantic and dip our front wheels in the sea. We then head up the coast for lunch before heading towards Hardian’s Wall and the quiet roads close to the border. With spectacular views and some stretches of road where we can chaingang, this is an unforgettable riding day.

Sunday : Gilsland to St Bees

Distance Elevation Difficulty
Main Bunch 124km 1889m 3/5

Our last ride takes us back to the Irish Sea. We turn off the Hadrians Cycleway in order to hit some of the beautiful routes through the Lake District. The first 40km is gentle before a lumpy middle section and final descent to the coast and a celebratory final dinner together. This is the same weekend that many of us should have ridden the Marmotte or Etape but this is just as epic a bike ride with a total distance of 436km and 6,643m.
