Para-Cycling Road
Form the 9th August to 13th August athletes with a physical or visual impairment will travel from over 50 countries world wide to take part in the World Championships in Glasgow.
A classification system is used to ensure a fair competition between athletes. Para-cyclists ride the same events under the same rules as their non-disabled counterparts.
The roads of Dumfries & Galloway’s will see riders compete in the Individual Road Race, the Individual Time Trials and the Mixed Team Relay.
Riders will battle it out on the road in the road race as a team and solo in the ITT but who will cross the finish line first to win the Rainbow Jersey?
The Mixed Team Relay sees three hand cyclists race a road circuit, one at a time each rider will give it their all striving for glory. Scotlands very own Ken Talbot has the current speed world record for a hand cyclists at 51.86 MPH!
